He led the way back to the interior’s entrance, standing by for Engel to enter first before making any move to follow suit.
Inside, Rouge had been keeping an eye on the stairs leading up to the deck (though her attention remained primarily on the window out front. One could never know when more legs might follow). As such, she was quick to speak up when footsteps came climbing down.
“Is everything alright?”
There was no turning back now. Engel had given trust to the red-haired stranger and entered into his domain. Call him naive to be so trusting, but truly the avian did not feel any need to fear…yet.
As he descended the stairway, the being flicked his feather tufts in the direction of the new voice. Entering into the room, Engel made way at the bottom for the man to descend. Waiting, he turned his attention to the dark beauty in the room.
“Hello. My apologies for crashing into your ship, ma’am. I suppose I caused you and your crew a bit of a disturbance. Engel Neuman.”
Taking a few steps towards the woman, he held out a gloved hand to shake in greeting.

Ok, so. After spending a good part of the night making accnts for seperate instances on mastodon, making an introduction post on each, and seeing how it works. I’ve gathered this much.
Instances are just servers that host the content made by the users, and are run by the admins.
Theres three types of dash’s ig. Your Home, which shows what ppl you follow have posted and also shows everyones replies to your posts. Local Timeline/Federated Timeline, which are basically showing you posts from a localised and global user base. (there’s also a notifications section)
It is worth saying that on PC Home, Notifications, and Local/Federation Timlines are all collumned. and it doesnt look great lmao.
You have to make a seperate accnt for each Instance/Server but the same email can be used and it seems so can username (altho i changed mine up b/c i didnt wanna be confused as to where i was posting).
Everyone dumping Tumblr is going to .social and that instance is just a mess rn. (so many ppl joining and just screaming into the void.)
Anyone using the Instance can interact w/your post, which personally has made just talking to ppl easier.
There are a Few servers/instances to look at and none are as hellish or chaotic as .social (apart from tondon.nl which i never made an accnt on b/c the preview alone was enough for me to Nope away from.)
There seems to be an instance for just abt anything, gaming, tabletop, book lovers, etc. these are more calmed, and easier to process (from my experience). Your introduction post will be seen more by ppl b/c theres no sheer mass of ppl posting over the top of them and you have more chance to connect w/someone.
I’m prolly gonna be spending more time there now than here, but I’m not leaving Tumblr entirely, but idk how much time im gonna spend here. I understand if you’ve joined .social and just got overwhelmed but it might be worth trying to find an instance that suits you.
This is a good intro to Mastodon, which I’ve also been exploring pretty much the same as OP here, so I’d like to add my thoughts as well for those looking for alternatives to tumblr in wake of the purge.
Reblogging again because frankly I’ve been more active on masto have have been thoroughly enjoying it, much more than Twitter (aka birdsite), and I’d really like to see more people join
The mastodon.art community in particular is soooo much better than here or Twitter IMHO because people actually comment on/boost posts and are super friendly!
I’m joining Mastadon too! OP and Merroki have relayed the site perfectly in their descriptions. Great alternative to tumblr!
